And the final few favorite quotes from this wonderful book:
"This brings to my mind that of Moses, by which he describeth the beast that is clean (Lev. 11:3-7; Deut. 14:6-8)...And this truly resembleth Talkative; he cheweth the cud, he seeketh knowledge, he cheweth upon the word; but he divideth not the hoof, he parteth not with the way of sinners; but, as the hare, he retaineth the foot of a dog or bear, and therefore he is unclean." location 1066
I loved this word picture using the clean/unclean animals in the Old Testament. Oh, reading this caused me to pray, "Let it not be so!" To just talk of the things of God, to just study, but not to truly have the changed life...let it not be so.
"Well, Faithful, thou hast faithfully profest
Unto thy Lord; with whom thou shalt be blest,
When faithless ones, with all their vain delights,
Are crying out under their hellish plights:
Sing, Faithful, sing, and let thy name survive;
For though they kill'd thee, thou art yet alive!"

This passage gave me goosebumps, even now, as I re-read it. Love!
"You are going now, said they, to the paradise of God, wherein you shall see the tree of life, and eat of the never-fading fruits thereof; and when you come there, you shall have white robes given you, and your walk and talk shall be every day with the King, even all the days of eternity. (Rev. 2:7, 3:4, 21:4,5)...In that place you must wear crowns of gold, and enjoy the perpetual sight and vision of the Holy One, for there you shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2) There also you shall serve him continually with praise, with shouting, and thanksgiving, whom you desired to serve in the world, though with much difficulty, because of the infirmity of your flesh." location 2138
I struggle daily against the flesh. It's so easy to be self-serving - so much more difficult to serve the Lord. I love this idea that when I am with Him, I can finally serve Him without the weakness of the flesh. I will no longer be so selfish! He deserves my complete adoration, worship, affection. To be able to give it to Him - lovely thought indeed!
